Membership Requirements

As a National Honor Society member, you are held to the highest expectations in four categories: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.  The service hours form (on the "Resources" page) is required to verify your work in the area of service over the next school year.  Below is an explanation of the service hours required in SJO National Honor Society.

Each member is required to complete at least 10 hours of service each semester.  A service hour is defined as volunteered (unpaid) work for a community organization, an appropriate business, or a religious group.  Service hours may not be completed for family members.  If you are unsure if your service hours are acceptable, please see me immediately.  Members may bank up to five hours of service hours to apply toward the next semester.
