Announcements for November 5, 2013


If you didn’t get your report card last Friday, please stop in the office to pick it up.


Attention juniors and seniors!  Parkland is hosting an Open House on Friday, November 8th from 12:30-2:30.   Along with the open house, Health Careers will be hosting their open house.   This is a perfect opportunity to check it out - you do not have school!!!


Attention Seniors:  there are 2 scholarship opportunities:

1)    Eastern Illini Electric co-op - parents must be Eastern Illini Electric patrons, must write an essay.   Deadline is January 31st.   Go to for application.

2)    IEA-NEA education scholarship - parent/guardian must be an IEA member, you must be majoring in education, and you must write an essay.  The deadline is December 2nd.  See Mrs. Rein for application.


We will be taking a fan bus to the sectional volleyball game on Tuesday at Argenta.  The bus will leave at 5:45 from the student parking lot.  Sign up for the bus is in the office.  The cost for the game is $5.  The bus is free as long as you bring a non-perishable food item.  There will be a box for the food items in the commons when you sign in for the bus. 


Maroon Platoon – please plan to attend the volleyball game tonight.  The theme is rain gear to help the team weather the STORM!!  Wear your rain ponchos, hats and boots and cheer the girls on!


Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country team for placing 2nd at Sectionals and the Boys Cross Country team for placing 4th.  Both teams advance to state this Saturday.


Congratulations to the Football team for their victory over Porta on Saturday.  Their next game is Saturday at Monticello at 2 pm.


Lost and found items are piling up in the office.  We still have several lunch boxes that are lost.  Please come by to see if your lost item needs to be claimed.  If they are not claimed by Thanksgiving break, they will be donated.


Spartan Fan Club Meeting is Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 in the conference room next to the teachers’ lounge.  Enter the building through the east doors by the circle drive.
